Plymouth’s HIV&AIDS Ministry
The Board of Christian Education is proud to launch and direct the HIV&AIDS Ministry. We are committed to providing evidence-based information, spiritually supported guidance and compassionate service to our members, friends, and community.
Our Vision
We live for a world free of HIV&AIDS, void of the sigma associated with the disease and absent any discrimination in prevention, treatment, and care to those affected and infected with the virus.
Our Mission
The HIV&AIDS Ministry will work to care for those infected and affected by the disease in our church family, and to end the suffering and death caused by the disease in our immediate community, Ward Four, the nation and around the world.
The Goals and Objectives of the Ministry
Our ministry will focus on principally three objectives. They are:
1. We will educate our congregations and the community through seminars, guest speakers of people living with HIV&AIDS, medical experts, activists and advocates.
2. We will promote a compassionate, inviting, and non-judgmental worship experience for all people in our target population. We will provide periodical testing and counseling services to congregants and residents of the city.
3. We will advocate for effective, justice-based, social policies to address HIV&AIDS discrimination, stigma, and disparities in access, housing, and health care both at home and around the world.
Our Target Population
The HIV&AIDS ministry will target youth and young adults, women and girls, sex workers, people who ingest drugs and MSM in our church family, community and throughout the city.
All interactions: conversations, counseling sessions all conducted with respect, dignity and confidentiality.
Strategic Alliances and Partnerships
We will work in concert with all faith traditions, faith-based groups, city and federal governmental agencies, pharmaceutical companies, corporate America, regional, national and international organizations committed to eradicating the HIV&AIDS disease.
A Simple philosophy
Under Rev. Graylan Hagler's leadership, we believe Plymouth can be a model religious institution that forges a new path of healing, social transformation and spiritual, moral authority in a time of shifting health priorities, increasing HIV&AIDS infections, and dwindling designated HIV&AIDS funding.
We are striving to create a non-judgmental and loving spiritual experience. Sometimes we are very good at doing so and other times we fall short of this expectation. We appreciate your patience with us as we practice Jesus’ gracious model of love.
All are welcome to participant in our worship services, bible studies, church leadership and organizational life of the church.
